We’re still feeling the warm and fuzzies coming off of Valentine’s Day last month; reminiscing about our first love,
the Heidelberg packaging press. We started off 2023 sharing how we find inspiration in everything from colour to
packaging design, leading us to ask ourselves this month, what first sparked our print production ignition? The
answer lies in our Heidelberg story. Read on to follow our print production journey – past, present, and future.
1998: a year of epicness in music, movies, and tech. It was a time when we said goodbye to Seinfeld and hello to
Dawson’s Creek (reluctantly). It was also the beginning of Titanic-mania and the iconic iMac.
We were listening to The Beastie Boys Hello Nasty album at the time we purchased our first piece of equipment, the
Heidelberg 6 colour 40 inch press. And, as love would have it, the first sheets went on press Valentine’s Day 1999.
At the beginning of our Heidelberg story is a deep respect and admiration for Heidelberg’s vision. For over 170
years, the company has delivered quality equipment while keeping an eye on the future. In our opinion, Heidelberg is
a growth mindset OG, paving the way and opening the door for state-of-the-art technology that helped us become
laser-focused on getting packaging right, and products delivered on time. We share a similar mindset, where two
like-minded innovators in our space are continuously looking for opportunities to elevate what we do and how we do
it. For this, we extend a big shout out and thank you to Heidelberg North
America!
The need for speed picked up back then, and over the years we’ve built a full roster of print production horsepower
to complement the Heidelberg. Our shop floor is fully-equipped to handle any job, big or small. From our to our
first Inca Digital Press to the Esko Kongsberg and Bobst Folder Gluer, we’ve invested in industry-leading technology to help
our clients and brands get to market faster, grow sales, and get noticed.
Our capacity to produce and deliver accelerates as technology advances. Straight from the shop floor, the Inca Onset
X3 impresses with speed and accuracy. But we don’t stop at a robotic arm.

We’re proud to share that this beautiful piece of equipment is making its way to Proprint. Starting its journey from
Germany, across the ocean to Halifax, and finally making its way home on our shop floor. This impressive machine has
intelligent assistive systems that enable navigated or autonomous printing.
The future of printing is here and we’re excited to lead the charge for innovation in packaging production alongside
partners like Heidelberg and our amazing clients who inspire us to think differently and print differently.
Stay tuned on our social channels this month as we look back at the evolution of our equipment roster and share the
action straight from the Proprint floor.
